Prof. Jayakar Thomas is currently Professor and Head of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology Balaji Medical University Chennai Senior Consultant Dermatologist Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital Chennai. He is the founder of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics – Dermatology Chapter. His special interests include Atopic Dermatitis Psoriasis Acne vulgaris and Teledermatology.He has contributed voluminous work to the same. He has published over 250 original scientific papers in National and International Journals and has delivered over 150 Guest Lectures internationally. He has authored chapters in Text Books of Dermatology Pediatrics Adolescent Medicine and Allergy. He is the author of three text books namely Pediatric Dermatology Ward Rounds Clinical Pediatric Dermatologyand Psoriasis: a closer look. He served as the National President of the IADVL in 1998.He is the recipient of several awards notably the IADVL- Fulford Oration Award the Bharath Jyothi Award KC Kandhari Lifetime Achievement Award and the Mother Teresa International Award for academic excellence and achievements in the field of Dermatology. He is the President of the International Society of Teledermatology and is the first Indian taking this office as President. Prof. Jayakar Thomas a legendary teacher competent clinician talented academician is an able organizer with vivacious personality. In 2013he was recently awarded the Certificate of Appreciation from the International League of Dermatologic Societies.
