Crown Lengthening

Overview

Crown lengthening is a procedure where the excess gum and bone tissue is reshaped to expose more of a tooth's structure. The Procedure

After the treatment site is numbed a small incision will be made around the tooth to be treated, and the gums will be gently lifted away. Once the appropriate amount of healthy tooth structure has been exposed the gum tissue is washed with sterile salt water and stabilized with sutures. The surgical site is secured with sterile bandages to prevent infection and allowed to heal.
