About Us
The man, whose true calling in life, was itself ‘Life and illuminating lives’. A simple man with big dreams, who looked at the bigger picture of providing vision for all at an affordable cost, irrespective of class or creed, was none other than Dr. A. Govindarajan. A dream, which he fondly nurtured, became a reality when he founded ‘Dr. A. GOVINDARAJAN EYE HOSPITALS’ at Tiruchirapalli in 1969 as a 7 bedded hospital housed in a modest building of 2300 sq.ft.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that it was indeed a small step but a giant leap for the best eye care provided to the people of in and around Tiruchirapalli. Someone said that it wasn’t raining when Noah built his ark and this holds true for this man as he believed in systematic planning of things, way ahead. Yes, when there were very few private hospitals, more than 4 decades ago, the hospital that started off in an unpretentious way, stands tall today as a leading 90 bedded hospital, providing unsurpassed care, treatment and facilities. He was a soul of regularity and a bearer of tradition; and this feat was made possible only through his sheer dedication, determination & devotion to his profession.
Apart from his hospital services, he dedicated himself with humility and great love, with many social organizations Viz Lions Club, Rotary Club, ORBIT, All India Radio (AIR) etc., as well as participated in various seminars, wherein he stressed the need for prevention of blindness through awareness.
He joined the Tamilnadu Ophthalmic Association in 1968 and took up various posts in the association in his lifetime, as Secretary, Vice President, and as a President in 1994. He was honored with this prestigious post in the presence of the respectful and distinguished Chief Guest, our past President and Padmabushan Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Dr. A. Govindrajan Eye Hospitals is in memory of its founder; still holding true, its legendary commitment to provide matchless eye care to the people. Thereby, Dr. A. Govindarajan Eye Hospitals is recognized as a beacon of eye care, bringing light and spreading cheer into many lives. To suffice, here, we believe in creating rainbows rather than chasing them.
