S10 Health plans global expansion

S10 Health Safecare will invest over Rs.14 crore in research and capital expenditure as part of its global expansion plans.

Till date, the promoters have invested about Rs.13 crore. In the coming years, Rs.6 crore will be invested in research and development, Rs.8 crore in capital expenditure and some more investments in sales and marketing activities. Besides, the company plans to increase its workforce from 284 to 600 in the next 15 months.

The Chennai-based healthcare start-up has developed a unique model which synchronizes the needs of the doctors and patients in the U.S. through networking of clinics in a fast, easy and painless manner. Using IT as a tool, S10 has started upgrading medical records electronically in India.

Talking to The Hindu, Sridharan Sivan, S10 Health Safecare founder said: “We have customers in 20 states across the U.S. covering 12 specialties such as dental, eye, dermatology, cosmetology, infertility, cardiology, diabetology, emergency and primary care. This year, we have expanded into the Middle East market. In India, we are currently operational in Chennai and Delhi with plans to expand to 12.”

In the U.S., the company offers virtual scribes services to doctors to manage electronic medical records. While doctors focus on providing treatment to patients, the scribes fill up data sheets on a real-time basis and the patient charts are generated.

“We have increased the productivity of the doctors, who otherwise had to spend time in filling up data,” he said.

In India, S10 has partnered with 1,280 physicians and 198 clinics. Plans are on to cover another 300 clinics and 2,200 doctors over the next 15 months.
