Learn Rowing at Madras Boat Club

In what could thrill youngsters looking to master the art of rowing, the Madras Boat Club is to conduct a summer rowing camp for those in the age group of 12 to 20 years from April 29 to May 27. Participants must commit two hours in the morning (6 am-8 am) for the camp.
 
The camp is to be held on the premises of the Madras Boat Club, RA Puram. Believed to be one of the oldest rowing centres in the world, the Madras Boat Club is known to have conducted several such successful camps in the past.
 
Talking to CE, Dhitika Kota, a successful summer camp participant who has gone on to win a few national medals said, “The camp taught me the basics of the sport while making me realise how challenging it is. I made some great friends with whom I’m still in touch.”
 
The camp will be supervised by former India coach and  Madras Boat Club’s Captain of Boats Abraham Kandathil. “Rowing is an Olympic sport that provides a total body workout and this year, the Madras Boat Club is proud to be associated with S10 Health, a top sports medicine company that will provide participants with expert advice from a team of professional trainers and doctors,” he said.
